Notes About The Poem

An original poem completing the following quote: "Every day is a page to write a new story".

Every Day Is New

Take out the new-made parchment, pray,
Start the computer up.
Let pen upon clean paper play,
Let insight fill your cup.

When do we climb above past reactions,
Our limits of language and love?
When do we put our feelings in action,
Rising over the dread thereof?

The day will come when we shed our skin,
The hour when we're bankrupt of tears,
Cleansed of sin, ready to start in,
When we step beyond our fears.

Morning Doug. No argument here of your thoughts or your execution. May we all start up that computer to express life's inspiration. May I further say your ending stanza speaks with expression and thought. Well done

What a beautiful and profound write this is, Doug. You did a superb and impressive job. I don't think you need any luck with the contest and, me, I'm happy to be led to this most poetic poem ... CayCay

Heh, yes, Richard it would be. It's so easy to be cynical, for me anyway.

Thank you, Mike. Poets and other writers, around the world, looking for ways to say the perfect thing, or to say one thing perfectly. Most of us never get there, and on balance I think encouragement from others is important if not essential. We're made to struggle, though, and from that struggle comes a lot of beauty.

JH, in the shorter term, I think things are rarely as bad (or as good) as they look. In the long run, there are not enough steps. I can see some chance after cataclysm, but even then I'm 99% sure we'd screw it up.

Your last line seized the sentiment, we must be fearless in poetry as with life's resolve. Good luck Doug.

Thank you, Paloma. It's the coldest day so far of this fall/winter; a good one to resolve to stay indoors and chill out. : )
