Ever Changing

The clouds are moving 'cross the midnight sky There's a chill in the air that makes me wonder why Do we look up to the heavens in the middle of the night Are we looking for something that's not quite right Then the storm comes crashing and the rain falls down And I jump into a puddle as I listen to the sounds Soon the sky lights up with the flashes from the storm And the wind chill's gone and it's decidedly warm Ever changing Life is never as it seems Ever changing Melting like a moment from a dream Now a warm wind's blowing and the rain has stopped So I peel off my jacket yet the temperature has dropped So I take a little walk to try to dry my shoes and socks And the time is sounding from the old church clock The moonlight flickers and the stars begin to shine And I take another sip from my bottle of red wine I stop for a moment and I breathe in the air And I realise at last that I'm going nowhere Moments, ever changing visions that pass Ever changing, moments captured in dreams Moments, like prisms shining right through your glass Ever changing, never quite as it seems Ever changing Life is never as it seems Ever changing Melting like a moment from a dream Jane Shields (C)
