Eventualities

Sometimes in a black-veiled night When sleep eludes my frame. My mind succumbs to fright Of things too wretched to name. I ponder the possible eventualities, "What if this?" "What if that?" They seem to be tenable realities, And I am further taken aback. One dark thought leads to more 'Til dawn's birth grants reprieve. But other such nights are in store— A specter I tremble to conceive. Sweet Savior watch this night with me, Bless me with the peace thou giveth. From every fear let me be free For I know of a surety thou liveth.
