Evacuees

"EVACUEES." when I woke up that morning, I knew you weren't next to me. I could've climbed the tallest of buildings and screamed it. why couldn't you understand what you needed to do? I suppose in the end, you knew but didn't want to. I watch the woods get darker and the animals pause in confusion. If you could've ever really known just how much I loved you, you wouldn't have been so afraid. so many things I want to tell you but I know you could never bring yourself to submit to love. if you only knew lover, if you only knew. now we sit, switches turned, like the stopping of the air raid siren silenced. by: Chicano Eddie 7.10.19
