The heaven’s softly dawning light Conflicts with the darkness of night Reassuring the heart of God’s grace Despite the melancholy of dusk’s face Like a comfort, morning comes around Destroying gloom of night that does abound Painting the skies in azure whispers of hope Leaving behind all the shades that do mope Gentle and soothing, sunup shines on us Letting go of the blackness we will discuss Making sure that the sun knows our love For its rays that betray dark we speak of Fear builds its bridge in the darkest hours Blinding us all to the joy felt in light’s powers The heaven’s breathe intimacy through light Reflecting our hearts despite dark’s dismal plight Wispy winds of faith reach out from light’s grasp Calling out through the dreaded night with a gasp Like an embrace from God’s hand touching down Relieving the sorrows darkness leaves to drown Out of the delight that comes from glorious insight Found in the day where shadows choose to smite Wonders and phenomena reach from the bright rays Singing melodies of pleasure, cutting through the maze Of nocturnal deception, betrayal and loathing from grief Which comes from loss that lingers in the evening thief Peppered with elation dancing through the sunshine Love that knows inspiration comes by God’s design The heaven’s tremble with a sense of purest rapture When light drifts through the cloud, the night to capture Within the cloudy hues of happiness that come alive As night drifts from the scene, allowing the sun to thrive There are no silhouettes of pain that linger amid brightness Only gentle seeds of kindness combined with tender politeness These lingering dreams encompass the heart in spite of darkness Which longs to disgrace the visions inside with bleak starkness Light flickers with creativity and courage from within hearts Sighing through the darkest warnings of storms who starts Worrying the confidence from its place of poise in feelings Night beckons to the weary soul with urges for sore dealings Songs of angels come through the sun in breathes of desire Leading the way through night’s deceit to a passionate fire Light brings truth, brilliance and insight into the heart and soul Night brings shadows of deception which will not leave us whole Welcome the morning sun with a embrace signaled on the face Who knows that night has been lifted by God, who can erase Juxtaposition Poetry Contest Sponsored by Silent One November 18, 2020
