Embrace Not the Blues of Yesterday - Chapter 1
I want you to be free
Free like a boat that gaily steers through the waves of desolate tears
You reduced me to tears
Then, happiness draws near
Now, we both have no fear
A happier song plays on the radio
I see the sunrays; in your eyes, they triumphantly glow
With blazing might
Tonight
We’re dancing like crazy on the dance floor
Without a care,
Without a worry on our mind…I implore you to shine on some more
Can you turn up the music just a hair?
You don’t wanna be left behind
Slow down, darling, if you can be so kind
The DJ turned up the music
It was such a downdrag, and yet so therapeutic
Gladness fills the air
We stare at the disco ball
We dance without a care
Together, we stand tall
I see a universe and a tragedy in reverse
In your eyes, I gaze so tenderly
There is peace in every verse
The truth will set you free
Embrace not me…embrace me not… x2
I don’t wanna be rooted to the spot and rot
Embrace me not, sorrow of yesterday’s tomorrow…
Embrace not me…embrace me not…x2
I love to sing in the middle of the night
Midnight lusts fill the air tonight and our love, entwined, blows away with the blessed breeze like a kid’s spectacular kite
I heard your voice and I screamed with joy
Once, in a fun-loving dream, I was a handsome boy,
Holding hands with a beautiful girl; I blushed and hugged her
She accepted my hugs and we exchanged laughter…
Embrace not me…embrace me not… x2
I don’t wanna be rooted to the spot and rot
Embrace me not, sorrow of yesterday’s tomorrow…
Embrace not me…embrace me not…x2
Or you’ll be doused in dismay or worse – you’ll have eternal sorrow
I want the reds, the yellows and the oranges to stay
Stay with me, greens, violets and blues and maybe gray
Embrace not the blues of yesterday
Come stay, sundrenched day
I sway with the blessed breeze
My mind, soul and heart is at ease
I love to dance in a love-entangled trance
I love to embrace you, but I must take flight
I love to fight the good fight,
Even though I’m faced with this circumstance
This tragic hardship and twisted romance
