Dedicated to Katy Cat, my best friend for 22 years.  Losing her was one of life's most difficult challenges.  We come to rely on our pets for love and affection and, so far, I have resisted adopting another.
soft warm loving Katy Cat such pure loyalty I had never known from humans as years pass, I see I may never find it again unless I overcome the emptiness I felt when I lost her and adopt once more life ends sometimes far too soon grief can overwhelm paralyzing abandoned souls preventing us from moving on and taking a chance we may discover love’s embers can reignite if we just learn to open our hearts *Written January 8, 2019 For "Writing Challenge January, 2019- Fibonacci - Poetry Contest" Sponsored by Dear Heart

We had to put our elderly dog to sleep right before Thanksgiving, this brings her memory back, but I hope in time you can find another kitty who needs a home, this is so expressive-

A loving, beautiful tribute. But my heart is sad, the loss of your Katy Cat. (Such a sweet face) I know the loss of our beloved best friends, nothing compares. Especially after 22 years. If and when you are ready, adopt again. You alone will know when that will happen, be gentle with yourself. Congratulations on your win!

I don't know where I would be without my kitties ... especially Sugar - she is my sunshine and my joy, and the sweetest spirit I've ever known! I got them (rescued from abuse) after my Cosby died, and they saved my life, (and my heart). Congratulations on your wonderful win in the Fibonacci contest, Carolyn - blessings to you and yours, and keep writing, my friend! :-) <3

Right now I'm trying to see if some neighbors would mind caring for my cat if I travel. As soon as that is worked out, I do plan to adopt. How nice it would be to have a cuddly kitty sleep with me again. I like dogs too, but cats are easier to care for and the type of furniture I have couldn't be damaged by kitties who want to sharpen their claws. Thanks for reading.

What a wonderful tribute to your beautiful Katy Cat. Our pets give us unconditional love for sure, so to lose that love takes a piece of our heart too. I have never had a cat, but dogs, rabbits and guinea pigs and each one loved and cherished. This way of writing I have never tried, a challenge for the future maybe? Congrats on your placement Carolyn such a poignant write. Kindest thoughts Ann xx

by the way , is that her actual picture ? if so, she was very pretty! My Callie cat was very plain but her soul was so beautiful.

wow, I love your expression of love for your cat here, Carolyn. I had one that was calico so we called her Callie cat. It has the same ring to it. She lasted 18 years till cancer got her. I never had another cat as good as her, not one cat of the many in my life. But still, I hope you adopt another one. They are such sweet company if you find one that is even half decent.

This is so beautiful Carolyn! I can relate so deeply with the sentiments in your lovely Fibonacci. I am still mourning our Tommy Cat who died two years ago now. I am sorry for your loss. Your Katy sounds so precious! : ) xxoo

Your loss was more recent, Connie. Katy's been gone for at least 10 years now. I'm sure you miss Tommy as much as I miss her. She was the most loving of all the cats I've raised.

Sorry to hear about your loss Carolyn, over the years we lost two spaniels, they were part of the family and you never forget them. Good luck in the contest. Tom.

It's not a recent loss, Tom, but I haven't been able to get past it and adopt another cat. Finding her dead and digging her grave were very painful. I still cry thinking about it.

Sorry you lost Katy. I love cats and we've had a series of cats over the years. The latest one we lost was 19 year old Simba who contracted cancer. A year or so later we got dear old Jeff and he is a constant companion (nosiest cat we've ever had!) Follows me around like a puppy and is relaxing on the desk as I type this! He gives me great comfort since Vera's passing. Great entry for the contest - Bob
