"edmund's Tale"

Edmund wished so to be~ A man who sailed o'er the sea~ Younger than his brothers he was~ This lad who claimed 'twas just because~ "Because it is & so am I"~ Was an answer he did give~ "For if may be then so to live~ Sail that sea shall I"~ So came one day when all was right~ Young Edmund then did feel so bright~ A sloop he spied at harbour's end~ Last dollar then he so did spend~ Climbed aboard his tiny sloop~ Brought with him a line & loop~ Cast those tethers from that pier~ Set sail he did for nearly a year~ Edmund sailed seas of green~ Sailed seas he'd ne'er seen~ Fought wild winds as best he could~ Strong & bold as he knew he would~ One day returned to his harbour old~ No longer that lad from whence had gone~ Nor a man so old & bold~ As could not be heard to sing such silly song~ "Oft I've thought a bit of this~ What ever that I'd thought as bliss"~ "Done am I for now so say~ Of seas I'll then now no more play" "Twas folly that such I did seek~ Of which then now I've had my peek"~ "Never will nor ever wish~ To sail a'sea or devour a fish"~ "Old & bold & rich & fat~ I'll grow then in this harbour"~ "A house I'll build & find a cat~ To force me to work yet harder"~ "For surely now I know what is~ That sea & all she owns"~ "Now hear my plea & hear my groans~ Such sea I shall not miss"~ Edmund was a spritely lad~ Yet his step was thus seen sad~ For in him there was simply naught~ Nor pleasure o'those battles fought~ He'd seen what was an end of time~ Felt a cold wind so then blow~ He'd been then there before that line~ Where no man's heart should e'er go~ A sloop now sits at harbour's end~ A'waitin' that next lad~ As warm wind seeks to another send~ A'sea for just a tad~ SeaWolf ©

Terrific ballad, Seawolf. But I'd love to sail those seas again and relive all those days. Then again, all alone on a sloop, i'm not so sure. Congrats on a well deserved feature.
