Earth's Rebirth

The season that gladdens the heart with great anticipation, Is that of Spring, a time for the renewal of creation. All of God's handiwork joins in glorious celebration, As latent nature awakens from its wintry hibernation! Colorful daffodils leap boldly from their slumber. Pesky dandelions proliferate, far too many to number! Buds and blossoms adorn the branches of stately trees. Sturdy little bird nests sway with each gentle breeze! Early arriving robins are rife upon my lawn, Cheerily serenading me since the break of dawn! Hummingbirds, mourning doves and finches are on the flight, Putting on an aerial display, much to my delight! In my garden is an elegant profusion of showy flowers, Pristine beauties nurtured by gently falling showers. Alas, there's the usual scourge of troublesome weeds; They must have been intermingled in the bag of seeds! It seems only yesterday that I was shoveling the fallen snow, Now the grass is emerald green and I must prepare to mow! The splendor of the season fills me with awe and wonder, As upon God's magnificent re-creation I pause to ponder! Robert L. Hinshaw, CMSgt, USAF, Retired (© All Rights Reserved)

Hah! It's either shovel or mow when it comes to the great outdoors, Bob. Enjoyed the images of nature and can appreciate the frustration of dealing with the weeds. I was out pulling some up this afternoon and just wondering when the grass would start growing again. Ugh! Still, there's no place I'd rather be on a beautiful day than in the garden (or fishing). Love, Carolyn
