Earth's Porch, Beyond Its Fallen State Sonnet number III of XII Bright the hopes of dawn's new reprieves blessing some days with so much more, World rebels, with its lies deceives all of man's weaknesses explore. Not enough, earn ones daily bread world adds, vile insatiable greed Darkest paths it promotes instead selling such false steps as great needs. Warmth, flickering flames oft inspires gluttony of flesh and dark acts Wanting much more, greed never tires black-trails made into virgin tracts. Earth's porch, looking into abyss Humanity begs more of this. Robert J. Lindley, 4-10-2019 March 12th, 1989 Sonnet in eights.. There are many deceivers in our world; some of them are terrifyingly good at their craft. Greed really does, "never tire". A thought-provoking read, indeed.

Thank you my great friend. So true, some deceivers are true masters at their craft and wreck immense harm to others.

Less is more spirit on this one and looking at greed and weakness here. These remind me of poetry from late 1800’s to mid 1900’s. Super hard to write in that style! Did you try different styles when you were younger? I dont think I did. I think many of mine are traditional in that is what my ear always heard when I heard poetry. I was exposed to different styles in college. Nice to stretch and try so many styles and genres. I need to work as you have on different genre. I may already have my own style but, not sure. You have a style that is yours.

Thank you my dear friend. I am playing catch up on my replies. Yes once I tried many styles but eventually fell back onto what came natural to me. As my belief is that a true poet must create, not attempt to copy others!

Thank you my dear friend. Man's darkness, joins this world's shattering storms to form a whirlwind of misery, calamities , despair, lust, greed, envy, jealousy and savagery. Such that oft even, hope of hope, appears to be a vain aspiration at fantasy...

Many of Man's acts are overflowing that abyss.
