Earth, Water, Air and Fire: Ten-Word Challenge Entry
Earth, water, air and fire,
The four ancient elements;
Born of a god’s arcane desire
To construct the world’s edifice.
A construct that does require
Air and water be ambivalent,
While flamboyant must be fire
And earth be solid and quiescent.
But of the fifth, quintessence,
The intercessor of the four,
Its fiery incandescence
Unites them, and what’s more,
Offers the hope of a luscious repeat
Of a second, tactile creation
In this world’s bittersweet
And celestial immolation.
