Dust In the Sun
Sunlight dazzles the branches
Sifting through the naked limbs
Where there were once green leaves
Swapped for mahogany and red
~
The sun twists through the boughs
Drizzling along the dusty ground
Where dead leaves crunch, chewing
At the edges of a passerby’s boots
~
Dust glitters in the fierce sunlight
Creating rays of haphazard brilliance
That a child could catch with a hand
Touching the sweet, soft kiss of beams
~
A flicker of the golden dream whispers
Falls along the edge of the dirt road
Causing the cars dust to flicker, glimmer
With a sensation of waves to behold
~
The sunshine travels across the distance
Toward a land that has longed for its touch
Simply adoring the feel of warm twinkles
That resemble a stroke of love from above
