Notes About The Poem

Dust Bunnies

Some places exist which folks need to clean,
like deep in a closet or under a bed.
Such spots get ignored because they’re unseen.
Those in plain view get attention instead!

Some children exist we choose to ignore,
for they are not ours. They live out of sight.
Unwanted, unloved, and rarely cared for;
some rich, others poor - they share the same plight.

Their life is a darkness where they’ve been thrown.
They are gathering dust; no voice have they.
Their sorrows are only to God fully known -
these dust bunnies, growing more filthy each day.

They are the future, and in a short time
they will have become society’s grime.

Touched by your dust bunnies, Andrea. Our children can have a good future if they want to, but many of these will never experience life as we know it. ` Congrats on your win. ~ paul

Wow, a dark look at reality you have expressed in this piece Andrea. Our children are our future and we need to care for all of them. Great poem!

A condemnation on the failure of society to care for our most valuable asset, children. You have produced a powerful sonnet under the guise of an allegory. It was not what i expected at all from the title yet once read the title fits the poem like a glove. True artistry, and I am sure it is a winner in the competition. love Shane xxx

Much anguish here . . . seeing the cycle but feeling helpless to make changes . . . but awareness is a beginning . . . not more money, more programs, more stuff . . . but love and attention. Well done my dearest friend. . . deep is your love for children which is part of your calling each day!! Much love and light. 7
