Drought

Across the flat prairie range
Where grass turned green to brown
The fall rains have forgotten to fall.
The ever restless wind,
makes shifting dunes with barren soil.
Eroded landscape comes to view,
layers of dust, gathered over time,
  eons that have passed by.
Twisted and gnarled, bent and broken,
are trees that once thrived.
A place where seeds lie in embryo's state,
Waiting for new rains to release their dormancy.
They drift and migrate with the winds
As the wind blows across the range
yellow straw dances in the breeze
All waiting for droplets of rain
To regain their composure again.

You certainly have described a landscape ravaged by drought in this work. You have described it quite well.

This is very nicely done. The imagery is wonderful. I can just picture a land thirsty for relief.
