Dreams of Spring

waning of blue sky, as my eyes succumb to sleep — awakened by dreams the barenaked bark, handsome in its lichen state — soft are its feathers the long limbs of oaks stretch in coalescent prayers and mystical hymns in darkness of womb, rosebuds like a babies fist — the birthing of March honeysuckle scent, headily swoons in my bed, leaving me breathless the luminous moon, barred owl’s snow-heart countenance and my child-wide eyes awaken the dawn — potpourri of fairydust clings to horizon 3/13/2019

Very good use of simile and metaphor in these lines, Kim. My poems on lichen are very different, closer to their natural and botantical appearances, and everywhere here in New England. Many thanks for reading about those dreaded woodchucks that devastate our spring gardens. / M
