Dragonfly
Hear my plea
You used to give me
A big fright.
Now that I have turned eight
I learned I have to be real still with my finger held up high
Looking like the Statue of Liberty
For you to come visit me
From your trips around the sky.
The child let out a sigh!
Waiting, waiting is the key.
The more she waited the
Madder she got and then began to cry.
As the child went to dry
Her pretty brown eyes
She felt you on her finger. She was so excited the child
Shouted. "You didn't pass me by."
Oops! She had startled thee.
Finally she understood why
You had to flee.
She had given you a big fright,
Up went her finger even higher with a determined will
Just to see
If another dragonfly
Would visit from out of the sky.
