Draggin' Out the Dragon Tears
This old dragon, wisened and tough,
will be the first to tell you,
He's seen enough,
For he can see, through you and me,
He understands shame and pain,
Angst, fear and grief,
He also knows, true love and joy,
From better times long since past,
Dragon... Man... Boy.
All he has seen, throughout his life,
Should have hardened this old heart,
To ev'ry plight,
Because dragons, calloused and cold,
As he knew himself to be,
Stand proud and bold.
And yet he finds, dragons can't help,
But to feel everything,
That can be felt.
So our dragon, silently wipes,
His eyes again and again,
For fears he hides.
For he now knows, these tears reflect,
All the times he should have cried,
A cold defect.
He didn't care, he didn't share,
Except to gain glory and fame,
Beyond compare.
Now at life's end, he sits and stares,
And can not hold back the pain,
of grief he bears.
This empathy, he greatly fears,
As he can no longer stop,
These dragon tears!
