Don'T Give Up
Don't Give Up
The earth once teemed and buzzed with life
Then came the spear, the gun, and knife
And man who once was kind and just
Gave way to greed, to want, and lust
He had to have all he could see
He wanted all, He did decree
That nothing in his way would stand
He raped and plundered all the land
As I grew up I used to hear
Of forests green and wildlife dear
Now I gaze with tears and look
these things are only in a book
I wish someone had thought ahead
Had seen the path we all now tread
Had known the agony, the sorrow
For thinking not about tomorrow
Now it seems it is to late
To change this awful man-made fate
We struggle and are filled with strife
As earth we try to restore to life
We cannot give up, cannot turn back
We want earth green, not burned and black
We hope that greed, and want, and lust
Has not condemned us all to dust
