Dog Days

Elm trees are folding their leaves Like umbrellas after a river storm The weeping willow quietly grieves, In summer heat neither conceives That only mid-December relieves This is Dog Day's scorching norm, Elm trees are folding their leaves Like umbrellas after a river storm.

Oh, my goodness, Hank, it will be 102 degrees in Kansas today! This is so apt for us!

The heat can be very oppressive and dangerous for older folks like me. I cannot imagine being homeless and not having an air-conditioned shelter. Many of them will be the casualties this summer. So sad.

Dog days are here for a little while. Turn the air conditioning on and have yourself a refreshing Coke...

Ah, but as my urologist would say, "Drink water!!!" He's adamantly opposed to soft drinks, but I don't think he can convince me entirely. I'm trying to drink more water, though.

It's been too darn hot. At least we had rain twice today, so it didn't get about 85. Elm leaves curling... sounds like you're ready for Fall.

Oh, not quite yet, I hope. It was 93 degrees here today, according to my car thermometer, but I suspect it was hotter than that.
