Do You Remember Me In Your Memories

He laid in bed almost asleep. I asked him, " Dad do you remember me?" " I was your daughter, your only child. Just take your time dad, think for a while." " Look at these pictures of you and me, "Do they spark your memory?" " These new pictures I'm showing you. Is my sixteenth birthday party, that you threw." She held him close in disbelief, and asked him over and over," Dad do you remember me?" She said, " Dad I'm hoping you can recall, but his absent look is what she saw. He said, " I'm sorry honey I wish I could." Her heart just broke, as she understood. So many years, just disappeared. Leaving a loving daughter in heartfelt tears. She prays for a cure to heal his mind. Waiting, waiting for sometime. Her dad doesn't know her anymore. So she carries both the memories, of him and her. Michael Tor 11/8/2015 Inspired by Glen Campbell and his Alzheimer.

Michael, you wrote such a kind and compassionate comment at my Alzheimer's poem, I wanted to return the favor. This one touched my soul deeply, and demonstrates what a sensitive soul you have towards those who struggle in life. It's hard to imagine not being able to recognize or be recognized by your own kin, but for many, this is their reality every day. So grateful for your heartfelt poetic insights, especially on subjects that aren't often discussed. Blessings ~ John

Michael. I hope i can ever find time for this documentary. If I had not come here to see if I saw your poem already, I would not know the message was here for me. In such a hurry, I don't have time to look for poems . Gotta get dinner made and was too busy all day for comments. Oh my, I wish there were more hours in a day.

Andrea I so sorry your running out of time. I know so many hours in a day, but you have to slow down and smell the roses. Do something for yourself for once. Be a little selfish with your time. Thanks for getting back to me with your busy schedule. Blessings your way my Dear.

Paul your words I am thankful for. It is sad. Old age has contributed and they say the foods we eat. A new study says now that three glasses of champagne a week will help prevent Alzheimer and Dementia. My heart goes out to all those that suffer from this and their families. Thanks for your visit my friend. I hope you are well.

It is a CNN documentary called "Glen Campbell I'll be me" Make sure you have lots of handkerchiefs. Also Andrea he had his last great hit about Alzheimer's a song which was a hit called " I'm not going to miss you." Which Tim McGraw sang on the last academy award. Oscar nominated song. Great song you should listen to. Also his daughter Ashley who was in Glen's Band wrote "I'll do the remembering." Awesome song and hit. You will love both these songs. If you go to YOUTUBE and search these songs you can hear them. I strongly recommend them. Also the documentary might be on YOUTUBE. I was touched by all of it and I had to write this poem to bring attention to this disease and to touch peoples lives with those that are dealing with parents and family members, brothers and sisters.

I lived this. I stood there as my Mother reminded my Grannie of who she was, 'your youngest child, Moma." My Grannie did not know, no recognition and so your heart breaks a little bit. I makes no sense, it is sad, just sad and you captured that well ... CayCay

Thank you CayCay. Im sorry about your Grannie.. It is a terrible illness that affects so many. You know that feeling of trying to accept the loss of their memory. It is very hard to do. You want them to be normal and remember. A whole lifetime of memories gone.

The raw emotions within your words capture the heart with their strength of truth while devastating the soul with their sadness. Your tears seep out of your words and dampen the emotional fires alive within your verses. Wonderful work! Emile. #7

Thanks Emile. I saw a documentary on Glen Campbell the famous country singer. It was very touching on Alzheimer. Glenn didn't even know his children. His disease had destroyed his memory. It was sad to watch. Scientist say that three glasses of champagne a week prevents the illness and dementia too. Your comments are always appreciated Emile.

A tragic story that unfortunately is repeated all the time. Your well developed poem touches the heart and soul and brings tears to the readers eyes. I knew a man who had lost his brother and didn't remember it, so he was asking where his brother was and when they explained to him he had died he started to cry. A little while after he was forgetting what they had told him about his brother and asked again and again he started to cry. God help never to be in such a state. A seven, dear Michael!
