Disconnection Notice

I scroll through the reels of my memories Your pixelated smile flickers, haunting the glow of my screen I swipe again, hoping to find you, But you're just a shadow in the light—a ghost I can’t hold We built our story in midnight texts and laughing emojis In photos that never quite captured the moment What felt so real now melts away Like ice cream forgotten on a warm spring day The screen dims to black, and with it, our story fades I thought we had something real, but it was just static— A connection that never truly connected The myth of us dies with the battery’s hum Hope once anchored deep in my chest begins to let go The weight lifts like a balloon set free into the sky From the wreckage of our digital love, I start again A new ship rises—unsteady but mine to steer Unshackled from the wires we wove so tightly No longer bound by a kiss that never existed The glow of the screen fades; its grip loosens at last And I begin to see the world I’d left behind I step into sunlight, shaky but moving forward The "what could have beens" lose their power over me Each step feels uncertain but real, mine to take As I reclaim a life that’s finally my own Our history is erased like a hard drive wiped clean No trace remains of what we were in the virtual fog In this real world, I’m starting to feel like myself again As I leave behind the ghost of your name -
