without an umbrella,

standing in a puddle

of my own stupidity

How much I relate to the feeling you described so well, Chris. There are times when we all need a metaphorical "umbrella." Sometimes that "puddle of stupidity" just keeps getting deeper. Excellent writing as always! Hugs, carolyn

Great imagery. We all make mistakes Chris and it is those who are strong to acknowledge things, apologize, etc. However, self blame for 'stupidity' will only deepen that puddle, my friend. I hope you have a great afternoon :)
