Disappointed Date
I asked you for a date
and you accepted.
The car I used was
my Dad’s – a Cadillac –
with lots of begging.
I paid your meal,
you cleaned the plate.
I bought the drinks
you downed them all.
The moonlight walk
I had hoped to take
I had to cancel:
you couldn’t walk
much less talk.
I dropped you off
expecting at the least
a token for my generosity –
a kiss, a hug, a smile,
even a handsake.
Thanks for the date
anyway, you ingrate!
