Diminished Blues

Grey clouds clot, choking a waning sun
reclaiming shadows, the day had won.
Birds fall silent in the somber air,
as the coming storm evokes despair.
Gaia showers where wet skies are bled,
and mournful trees gather tears to shed.
In a shroud of mist deprived of light,
delicate flowers close petals tight.
And the sky's bruised with darkening hues;
swathes of purple and diminished blues.
A ghostly chill commandeers each breeze,
as the trees shiver with trembling leaves.
While lightning flashes its jagged eye,
thunder responds; with a mighty cry!
