Diamonds are Forever (Black Diamonds in Africa, acquired in the Orange River) Shinning rocks on the ground, fallen stars from heaven... or so they appear. Men willing to live, and to die, for just a piece of the pie, a slice of the moon, until the tune, turns dark, ugly, and unreal. Feel the money in your hands, the dreams that spin outward, while killing those you love inwardly. Wars between the haves and the have not's, that take the form of hunger and thirst. Black rocks, tumbling by in the shallows when the river is high, but only slowly when it is not on the go. Swim and feel the stones, the cold stones, that lead to the path of destruction. Too many worth too much, or not enough. A monopoly in the mud, a kingdom in the dirt. Forever will you hurt the land, and the people... who try to stand against the men, that got there first and own everything that never belonged to them. It is a sin. (Diamonds are just rocks. There are enough held in secure places to flood the market. They would be of no value at all if that happened.)

Insightful poetry, Ann. I agree, how man determines the worth of something is very inaccurate. Everything comes from our Creator and belongs to God. We are just using what has been provided for all of humanity. Man's sin nature has ashewed the worth of things and greed has misevaluated the resouces provided for us. Earth has as abundance of all we need. We currently have a distributions problem brought on by greed. Thanks for sharing you mindful poetry, Ann. A poet friend in Texas, Bill

Great depth of thought to this piece, nature has her way and we must learn to respect it.

Ann Your poetry is beautifully written, and it reminded me that God governs everything and we are only temporary tenants of his world. Thank you for sharing your talent with the rest of the world.
