Devastation

When I got the news, I was devastated. So I don’t know why I hesitated. To sign the papers that were due. When my breath was already blue. They were already waiting. To take me to the place of sedating. To take off the edge. They gave me a wedge. Between my world and the one I lost. I reached out my hand at a cost. Because they took it in with their claws made of steel. And then all I had to look forward to was another meal.
