Destiny

The gentle flow of her virgin gown
in the dark water where she would drown
wrapped gently around her ashen face
a wonderful lover's death embrace.

Embrace this great man, her mother told;
gowns, extraordinary things of gold;
drown you, child; he will with treasures so;
face it, good girl, you'll not find your beaux.

So she leapt as others have, and will.
