Destiny

In his heart a man plans his course but
                        the Lord determines his steps.
                                    Proverbs 16:9
                                      ~~~~~~~
                           In our youth, you would agree,
                             We are emerging creeks,
              Babbling with delight, as we journey wild and free;
          Moving with the flow of life, our true nature we do seek,
                        A path to fulfill our apogee, our peak.
                    As time moves forward, a river we become,
                   Swiftly moving through the wilderness of life,
      We tackle storms our plans could not perceive, and we succumb;
              Accepting the times, we live with abject strife,
                    Through the rapids of disparity and rife.
                    Channeling our path, we follow without fear,
                    Widening our vision, carving out our legacy,
                Deepening the riverbed, repenting souls can clear.
            At the estuary of life, the river meets the sea of equity;
             Looking out on the horizon, we shall meet our destiny.
Hello Paulette ... a human life and a river is a comparison that is so similar and you have explained it splendidly in your poem as we both go through the different stages - thanks Paulette - Lindsay
I was inspired by a picture of a river flowing freely through boulders and roots of trees as well as the Proverb that I make my mantra. :)Paulette
Paulette, you have an excellent train of thinking! Lovely! Our existence is in phases, shifting and running like a river flows.
Beautiful! Stages of our lives, transitioning, flowing as does a river
Thank you for stopping by to comment. I think we all can relate to this; as you said, "transitioning" which is the natural flow of life. Blessings,Paulette
Life begins as a stream, growing into a river and then merging with the ocean of eternity! Great stream of thought Paalette!
Poetry at its best, Paulette. The comparison of life to the various types and flows of water was brilliant, and you rhyming was exquisite. I made this one a "FAV". Thanks for sharing, Bill
" Looking out on the horizon, we shall meet our destiny." Lovely writing. For sure, every life is a journey toward enlightenment. Every life a book. Often we live several lives in the span of one. No one gets it entirely right, first time around. Blessings, Joe.
