Default Position

I'm walking with my mind turning over Changing calibrations, resetting composure Spoke to the wind, it guided the way Step by step lead out of this day Set scene for tomorrow where I will arrive Reinvigorated, rebirthed, my zest alive Maybe I'll care about rhythm and rhyme Maybe I won't, one step at a time But I've sorted today, put the fix in place Heard promises, recalled to mind your beautiful face I know I'm holding hope through past child's eyes Making fresh start, do good reprise But picking you up, setting you straight My natural default, good deed I create I can't leave you alone, to make choices unwise Hand in hand upwards rather than chained together demise A small gesture from me to start you uphill I feel the tears brimming and my heart start to fill Granted you and I a simple moment of peace All that tension and fear I now hope to release
