Deer In the Headlights Experience
You heard me complain about this and that
Today I glorify in being at the Food Chain's top
Neither sacred bulls, cows, or holy hen are safe
From my predation; they are prey, my target
Until one summer, brother Mosquito terrorized me
Maybe it is Sister Mosquite? Female mosquitos bite -
Not the males, who may not need my blood for larvae
Finally falling asleep, then zweee-zweee in power and might
I swat this way and that, they just bide their time
As I settle back, they go for my ears: ZWee-Zweee
LORD, why am I a victim, In my sleep, beside!
I get up, turn on the light, they are out of sight
But no, at the back of my head, the cowards!
The mosquito rarely comes face-to-face
After my nocturnal research notes, this is fact:
Mosquito will come at you belly level, not high
After reluctant research of this sort and dubious expertise
I invested in an insecticide. Yes, now Zwee-Zweeing
Will be followed by a blast into the past, me dancing
Into the wee hours. One down. Other nights: 5 and counting
