"Deep Duet"
When I write I feel my fingers tapping keys In my mind they are stroking black notes and ivory You are sitting with me Place your warm hands on mine “Metronome”, you whisper Warm breath on my neck close behind “But there are rules”, I say I lean back into you Time to move in tempo We are deep duet He colours my world Intermezzo Keys Love Notes Sharp Accidentals White and Black
(Lovejoy-Burton/April 2018)
"Love is like playing the piano, first you must learn to play by the rules, then you must forget the rules and play from your heart".
"An accidental, in music theory, is a musical notation that is used to raise or lower the pitch of a note. There are a handful of accidentals - sharps, flats, naturals, double sharps, and double flats. In piano, when an accidental precedes a note, it tells the pianist to play a different note from the original."

Pure poetic musical creative genius this write be, Leanne. Your innate ink wisdom never ceases to amaze ... and elevate one's understanding. Your gift is a blessing twice given: in the hearing and the doing. Keep on muse motivating me, allowing my cerebral thoughts to grow exponentially. A jewel of a poem. Love and smiles always.

love is like a quiet breeze that whispers around you but you cannot see it, you feel it. love is like a storm that pierces your heart with huge gusts of emotion, electric fibrillate...there are the sounds of crashing symbols and drums, love in symphony with all the violins and orchestral manouvres in the dark and light of one's life. It's learning how to play soft and hard, always fair, by the rules or not.

The title says it all. Deep in emotions and clever romanticism told through the music metaphor. And of course you can't go wrong with Mr Murphy!

In my life Charles, rules are a given. In life, I have seen in others, external to poetry format here, without rules....there is no "freedom". Thank you for your kind observation.

In my mind they are stroking black notes and ivory, He colors my world, and sharp accidemtals turned this Carnegie Hall tribute into a tribute befitting every musician who has played Carnegie Hall. Which I wish I could say included mwah, but mwah has no keenness about music except mwah loves Steve Harvey, who hums great, Ellen Degeneres, who dances the best, and The Voice and American Idol. This poem brought me upside down and backwards to all of this and MORE! Thank you Leanne. GRATEFUL me be!
