Deep and Dark

Haunting reflections cast in an ebony mirror, implacable opaque surface did hypnotize. Cool and aloof demeanour enriched allure: I knew not whether death or madness awaited but, for you, I was willing to take that chance. Wrenched from obscurity and raised above all others, I bathed in your glory, subservient to your whims. Symbiotic relationship did flourish 'til betrayal's brutal blade struck mortal blow. Grievous crimson gash gouged straight through my heart; this wound so far beyond suture to ever mend. Mournful melodies replaced euphoric harmonies as once-exquisite veneer cracked and peeled away. With your true nature now finally exposed, our lustrous spark has been forever extinguished and this wicked masquerade has come to an end. - - - - - - - - - - - (C) 3rd June 2017 For the "Write me Something Deep and Dark Contest" by Laura Loo. (10th Place) Incorporating the following words: ebony, obscurity, masquerade, aloof, death, hypnotize, suture, veneer, crimson, opaque.

The deepest cut of all is the pain derived from being betrayed by the beloved one. What an ingenuous application of the 10 words in this deep and dark piece! Congratulations on yet another well-deserved win, John! Hugs. Pandita

Hello John. Good Afternoon. Wow. This entry is one that should be read out loud slowly yet with emphasis and strength. This is dark and deep. The ending is sad yet its always scary to take that chance. Well done in its entirety. Best of luck with the contest. Enjoy the afternoon.

You capably speak of a dark, subservient relationship, John, finally falling victim to betrayal. You incorporated all ten words without drawing my attention to them...they fitted in inconspicuously...no easy feat! Regards // paul
