Decaffeinated Men

There was a time when freedom was found outside the dictionary, in the hearts and minds of men; we wrote our songs, sang and danced, proud masters of well-tuned instruments and pen – how I long for those days for men to be free again: regain their balls, before freedom falls, to the feminine within – good to be soft and cuddly...but not when wars to be fought; good to have a gentle side, but testosterone men should never deride, for the enemies will have their hide, make slaves of decaffeinated warriors – not one rebellious allowed to survive; their women and children relegated to obedient consorts, surplus, roasted alive....

Vive la difference! They did that to flight crew. It used to be Stewardess or Steward, but they forced us to change over to flight attendant. I celebrate the difference in genders. A great choice for POTD Joe. Congratulations on having this wonderful poem honored. Blessings xxoo

It is the same in most all the animal kingdom -- this is not to suggest that women can't be great leaders and warriors (Jeanne d'Arc), but men are generally the physical heavy lifters -- nothing wrong with that. As there is nothing wrong with a woman in flowing silks, or nursing a child. We are just constructed and programed differently for specific functions. Have a great day my friend!

I totally get what your saying Joe but I’m not so sure if men are losing their balls, I think a lot of it is internet influenced, and exaggerated, I know many blokes down the local boxing club knock the crap out of each other, and come back day after day for more, but in general because were using more machinery and tech, rather than brute force, we probably have softened up, hence my ambivalence on this subject, congratulations on a deserving potd, cheers David

Quite a song!:) When I was a young man, "girls will be girls and boys will be boys". I did not take this to mean, girls could not be pilots and engineers, and boys could not be poets and ballet dancers -- I took this to mean, there is a difference -- men and women at times thinking very differently -- not better, not worse -- differently. Naturally, unapologetically.

Yes, indeed: where had all the Men gone? Reading magazines left out by the good wife to "soften" their rough edges. I enjoyed this poem which places a common topic under the magnifying glass.

I don't buy this, we are all alike, and should be: If God wanted it that way, he would not have created man, been contented with His own reflection of angels in heaven -- men and women are unique, each in his or her own way; and those differences are meant to be embraced but not necessarily adopted.
