Deborah

Deborah Mother in Israel, clothed in armor Hill country courtroom ‘neath her lush palm tree, Judges disputes between landlords and farmers Judgements, like sweet dates, God's chosen agree. Clothed by prophecy, Daughter of the Lord Feeds Israel on God’s bread of mercy A hunger for fairness – justice restored - Lappidoth’s wife, resolves controversies. Hears on the wide plain, iron chariots thunder To end pagan rule, her wisdom now taught; Song of praise rises, sung from her wonder, Victory comes from God’s plan that she sought.

Hi Jo! Deborah was indeed an "inspirational woman" who combined both the traditional roles(wife and mother) and non-traditional roles(prophetess, judge and general) of women with ease and grace through her faith though I am sure working with the twelve tribes was like herding squirrels! I am so grateful for the opportunity to write about this exceptional woman and so thankful for your placement. Gratitude and blessings to you and to all the exceptional women of faith we know!

You have done full justice to this Biblical character... the prophetess and first female judge of Israel. She always thirsted for fairness and justice and inspired her people into a victory over their oppressors. This character of the Old Testament is given a rebirth through your beautiful poetic lines, dear Sam. All the Best !

Dearest Valsa, thank you. Telling Deborah's story in twelve lines was certainly a challenge. Thank you for your feedback. She was indeed a remarkable woman who combined the beauty of woman, a deep relationship with God as a prophetess and all the qualities of a renowned and fair judge into one amazing woman in a non-traditional role for a woman of her time! We are so blessed to have her story and her example. A true role model. Sending you blessings of Deborah dear friend!

No book named after her but she was a Judge in Israel. Want to say the Samson of Women of that time. Oricales hold what we havent studied. But it is enough her name is there.

Deborah was truly an amazing woman - a judge, ruler, when women had no standing in her society - a non-traditional role. She describes herself as a "mother in Israel." Her story is wonderfully amazing. Thank you for your perceptive comment! Hope you are well. Blessings
