Death's Unavoidable

Death's unavoidable; from birth,
it tests the mettle of our worth.
And questions if it is a lie
that our souls ascend when we die.
Trust is a ticket to deceive;
both believers and the naive.
It takes a hardened heart to win,
one forged by greed and quenched in sin.
Like Jekyll and Hyde, love and hate
form conjoined boundaries of fate.
Angels and monsters mirror me,
reflecting my reality.
Dallying in the wake of fears;
dying evokes sadness and tears.
And only upon my last breath
will oblivion unmask Death.
