Death Found Below Our Feet
Death Found Below Our Feet
While earth had been lying beneath our feet,
Knew that our death would eventually meet;
Planes in combat were coming close and near;
Saw catastrophe approaching and so sheer.
Keenly was looking into other pilot's eyes,
And we never were sure of who first dies;
God our dutiful lives surely did not spare
Had hit head on instantly dyed in mid air.
All that our wives would have to look toward,
Presentation of folded flag with an award;
Looked up in sky and had a dream so grim,
Reminding us so much of each one of them.
