Dear Vagabond, You Wander
Dear Vagabond, you wander; I never know
where you’ve gone or when you will return.
Your love is for adventure and for the world.
My love, sadly though, is but for you.
You’ve wandered off; you do it time and again.
I can’t keep you; it would kill your soul,
yet always you come back. When you do, you seek
comfort in my arms, which reach for you.
Dear vagabond, your kiss lingers on my lips.
When I sleep, I dream only of you,
then waken to the ache that never leaves me.
How easily it stays. So why can’t you?
Where are you off wandering, dear vagabond?
No letters come. I just wait and wait.
Your heart is somewhere thrilling while mine instead
is breaking here underneath my chest.
