Dear Brain

Dear brain
Please deactivate your green light
And let’s call it a night
Allow me to sink into the world of peace tonight
For I most certainly need my beauty sleep
Thank you and have me some sweet dreams

Lights off
And my brain is double down
 actively surveying its web

My eyes are getting heavier as the hour is ticking away
 passing the midnight hour
But my mind is yet to calm down
Still browsing on its web
Searching for that something

    to be appreciated

Good Morning Fin. Hi. Yes I think we can all relate to those nights when we can't sleep and when our minds are just swirling waiting for it to rest. You were very clear sharing that moment in time. Have a wonderful morning and day. Keep enjoying poetry. Blessings always (smile)

Hi Fin and a big welcome here. Thanks for stopping by my page. I have my nights of insomnia too but I figure don’t fight it. If I haven’t managed to fall asleep within an hour I get up, have a glass of warm milk and then go back to bed. It breaks the cycle and I SLEEP. BEST, SUZ

Hello Suz, thank you so much for coming by and leaving me a sweet comment. So I used to love milk and drink it a lot. Especially at night. Like you said it helps to sleep. But few years ago I became allergic to diary. And on top of that I had Covid and that’s when my sleeping disorder began. Somehow I’m all messed up from it. Lol. Anywho, thank you again for your generous command and welcoming, I truly appreciate it. Hugs ~ Fin
To be appreciated... Ending well. Wow, Exciting to read and reread your poem Well done, FIN

Sometimes eating a piece of chocolate will make you fall asleep, it actually just worked for me. But if a glass of fine wine doesn't work, then drink two...or smoke some weed/pot (lol) But let me advise you, if you smoke pot you may also want to eat chocolate too (LOL) Sweet dreams, Finn. Hugs Charlie

OMG, Charlie that’s hilarious. LOL… Actually I do eat chocolate everyday every night. But as far as smoking, is never my thing. Lol. But thank you though, I’m still smiling :)

The writers bane, even when we're sleeping our unconscious mind is working flat out and I often wake at an ungodly hour with an idea I went to bed with and quickly jot it down. A big welcome to poetry soup. Tom

Hi Fin; one of the reasons I took to writing -- was awake anyway, so why not discover through writing? To this day, up about 2 every morning, and write till about 5. A lot easier now that I am retired and do not have to contend with work the next day after little sleep. Blessings my friend.

It’s weird because when I’m in a physical pain, I just want to sleep. But when I’m in an emotional pain, I can’t sleep at all. I’m weird in that way. Lol

This was a fun read, Fin. It has to be totally dark, very cool and very quiet. If all else fails, i usually get up and start writing or reading until sleep comes. However I am retired so it's no big deal if I'm up all night.
