Daydream

The first ray of light drags me headfirst through my dreams Scars appear at the sight of my tender flesh Scared yet mourning for sympathy it seems As dusk falls I heal one wound so fresh My mind is starved by all that is lost Forbidden to love and surrendered to silence Feeding off the ache of an empty heart Are memories of all the peaceful violence What triggered poison by the simplest of sin Left blinding veils on each word spoken What perished outside while we died within Was flaming pieces of worthless tokens No power enough to heal the tired arms of time The bravest fell to pray on dust, soothing tears of seeds By fate, whom we confronted only in crime Road never turned enough to save a heartbeat
