Darling Or Honey
I've heard men call their spouse or
significant other, 'Sweetheart'.
Others I have heard called 'Babe'.
I have heard a few called 'Mama'.
Believe it or not, I've even heard
some say with affection, 'My Old Lady'.
I could not have been more than 7 or 8
when I heard one of my first love songs
on the radio. It was, 'DARLING, You Send Me,
by Sam Cook'. I'm sorry to say that I only
heard affectionate words of romance on the radio
or television.
I had every reason to call my wife 'DARLING'
when we met and fell in love. Unfortunately,
I do not recall my father or anyone I knew
addressing their beloveds or wives as 'DARLINGS'
or anything similar.
For some reason, when I found the love of my life, 'DARLING'
didn't seem to fit. I suspect that it was her sweet spirit and
tender voice that compelled me to call my beloved, 'Honey'.
