Dangling Upside Down

When you travel and you’re on a plane, Attendants must always explain What to do in a crash But the words they rehash Most on board think are spoken in vain. Yet a Delta flight recently dipped As it landed and suddenly flipped. Every seat belt held tight As each one on the flight Dangled upside down, very off-script. Flight crews got all the passengers out With some injuries scattered about But they all did survive, In one piece and alive, Though quite shaken up, there’s little doubt. A payout from Delta proposed Thirty-thousand for each one exposed To this harrowing turn (More than some people earn) But not worth it, as many disclosed.

Your poem is about a moment in history. I don't know if I should be relieved, or if I should be worried that wings break so easily. I'm glad no one was killed. A good poem with a lucky outcome.

wow, I'd love that thirty grand. It's so funny. Nobody pays attention when the directions are being told by stewaredesses. i really can't even understand exactly what is expected in emergencies. Hope I never encounter one! Anyway I never intend to fly again. Walking the length of airports kills me.

Well written Ilene. I used to fly a lot. But my flying days are done. Too many things happening. I would have been a death on that flight from a heart attack.

It sure would have been traumatic - glad everyone 'belted up' but these accidents should never happen. You cant put a price on these things - i wasn't aware of the 'pay out' to passengers and its certainly not something I'd want to go through. I always keep my belt fastened throughout the journey! hugs jan xx

It's been my experience that when the plane is in the air most passengers unbuckle their belts – a no-no. Imagine the chaos id those belted passengers hd unbuckled their belts!!! / Maurice

I don't think it would be worth that for me. But this was a brilliant way to tell the harrowing tale.
