Notes About The Poem

Dancing Desire

Only a glance, and
her image seared my mind.
Promise stained lips in coy little smile...
voluptuous hips stretching her skirt
A hint of a cleavage drew my eyes
Beguiling, oh, how she beguiled!

I could see her now
in the swirl of my drink
Suddenly, a suspicious silence
a collective inhale…then bated breath
I looked up...and there she was
staring at me…

Everything outside her sphere
blurred in her flames as
she moved towards me,
her eyes sent their flares
desire dancing her dare

I sensed the heat,
but despite the
warning signs, like
a love-struck moth,
I threw caution to the wind
and flew into her fire.

Hi Eileen, this is such an excellent collaboration, written by two very talented poets. Each brings their skills to the table and an amazing piece of poetry is set before us. Two become one in a seamlessly wonderful write. You both use the full scope of the free verse form to build up a sensual piece, your words painting such a beautiful living canvas. I salute you both. This is a fave. Have a wonderful Saturday. Hugs....Mike. XX

I didn't know the Dirty Dancing movie had a sequel. I certainly had the "time of my life". Fire. :)

I’m glad such an encounter as you’ve supposed never made it thus far with me, for I surely would have expired. Well done! But is it legal?

Thank you, Silent One. Sometimes it's the flames that bring life into a numb soul. Insightful comment.

Thanks for the visit, Richard. What would life be without the joy of poetry...the ability to live, for a brief moment, an alternate life. Thanks for the visit.

Oh, how you beguiled me with your seductive contribution, Eileen!:) It is only fair to mention that most of this poem is fruit of your labor, my friend! My lines were just a spark..nothing when compared to the flames your words and accompanying picture project. Thank you for putting up with me:) Hugs // paul
