Daffodils and Landfills

O, the perfumed scent of lilac and daffodil You'll never replace the stench of the repulsive local landfill All hail to New Joisey, the Garden State weeds, thorns and thistles your visit await Yes, hail to Joisey, where the goils braid the hair in their nose with acid rain from polluted air Forget your long-stemmed roses and fancy poses Gimme the stubby ‘toeses’ of Kardashians Broads who look swell ‘til they open their yaps Shut-up, honey. Unfasten your brassiere snaps… All hail to New Joisey, the home of the oil slick See the pretty colors stream o'er her highways Yes, hail to Joisey, where the landscape's pure scum Drink a toast to the reek of her rot ~ cheap Ripple and rum

Funny stuff. I’m reminded of Joe Piscopo’s SNL character Paulie Herman. He was from Joisey. John

Joisey! What a place! Actually it's not quite as bad as I made it sound. A lot of NYC is much worse, frankly: Jamaica, Queens, etc... Oh, well. Keep me far away from the 'Peanut-sized state.'

Somehow, I don't think they will be inviting you to join the Chamber of Commerce anytime soon.

Never been to NJ; but after having read your poem, methinks not. Parts of NYC were bad enough. Anyway, this was cleverly descriptive. How do you come up with this stuff? Enjoyed.

Actually, I have been to NJ and NYC many, many times. At any given time, I've had all four of my kids living there. Daughter is still there, in Teaneck, which is actually very nice, once you exit the oil-slicked highway leading there...

I liked this reality poem. Our small town is in need of a beautification movement also. Thanks for this upbeat news flash. I'll stay away from Jersey.

Funny but filled with truth. New Joisey, the garden state! My Uncle lived there for a while but they lived in a beautiful area. One road to visit them allowed for only one car at a time. Enjoyed this one!

Glad I don't have to wear those oil slicks in my hair... I really can't get over them, can I? Guess I'm not 'noimal.'
