Daddy's Home

DADDY’S HOME! “Daddy’s home!” my mom would say; I’d run to meet him there, And he would take me in his arms, a hug and kiss we’d share. I loved my daddy as a girl and every time I’d hear Those words from mom, I’d rush to him and hold him oh, so near. As I grew up those precious words would ring out many times, And I would run to Daddy’s arms and hear his voice so kind. I’d grown up to a lady when I heard the news so sad: My daddy had a sickness now and he was feeling bad. He went to see a doctor then, and somewhere else did stay He had to stay in careful care, and many here did pray. It seemed the treatments helped him some, but one day came the word From Mom who sat there by my side and once again I heard, “Daddy’s home!” my mother said, “He went to that great place Where all his suffering is gone, his cancer is erased. We cried awhile, but hope was there we’d see my dad again, And he would hug me in his home, free from all ill and pain! Yes, Daddy’s home, and I’m still here, I miss him now, it’s true, But some day I will see his face in his mansion in the blue! The Lord will tell me, “Daddy’s home!” and I’ll run to his side And we will hug and kiss again in that home where we’ll abide!
