Notes About The Poem

written for Constance La France H form contest...

I used a rhyme scheme of ; abbaccdd effgge 10 syllables per line.

Crestfallen Roses

“In silent seclusion, we question the haunting whispers while losing air, craving just one last second within moving minutes of healing” Quote by Poet

I'm lost between dusky dews of twilight,
tethered to the tomb of withered flowers,
trailing souvenirs within frosted hours,
as stars wane like ghosts, stealing the skylight,
splattering ink across a somber maze
in hues of dreams and periwinkle haze,
to paint crestfallen roses with reasons~
veiled behind verses of balmy seasons.

But will the wind and waves merge in stillness;
unleash elixirs to heal the broken,
and voice the hurt that remains unspoken?
Or am I to forever sail through sins~
across woeful seas of peridot pins,
like a mere outcast, silenced by sickness…

Dearest Empress, This is a wonderful, deep introspection. I almost felt like I was on an exploration of inner turmoil and an emotional search for healing and belonging . You have truly inked a meloncholy journey through emotional darkness , questioning whether redemption and understanding are even possible. I think these lines say it all: "Or am I to forever sail through sins~ / across woeful seas of peridot pins, / like a mere outcast, silenced by sickness…" encapsulate the core message: a deep-seated fear of eternal isolation and the inability to overcome personal struggles. You know when a poem is great when it leaves you with a sense of unresolved longing, reflecting the complex nature of emotional healing and self-acceptance. An emotional FAV and a Big Congratulations on POTD. - Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

Dearest Inky, what a remarkable song of a wounded soul, a soul struggling throughout "peridot pins" wondering if the pain will ever end. Your imagery is stunning and the picture of your lost soul deeply touches me. This poem reaches down to touch a hidden place of pain and struggle. Congratulations on your POTD! So happy for you! Sending you blessings of healing "elixirs!" Samzy ~

Your sonnet creates a vivid, but somber atmosphere through its imagery. Words like “dusky dews of twilight,” “withered flowers,” and “frosted hours” evoke a sense of decay and lost time. The imagery of “stars wane like ghosts” and “splattering ink” adds to the melancholic tone, suggesting a world where beauty and light are fading. Yo write angst and sorrow so well, this is a poem that many will relate to... It also has a lovely flow to it and I do like the different rhyme pattern you have used.
