Coyotes In the Neighborhood

Around our neighborhood coyotes stalk, Looking for helpless newborn animals Count them among unwanted cannibals Be aware when taking your evening walk; Danger for older folks who stand and gawk, In nature, coyotes are radicals! Lead coyote grabs his unwary prey, And carries it back to the entire pack Victims have no chance in such an attack. Some neighbors are carrying pepper spray To frighten the lead coyote away, Nobody wants to be a coyote's snack. Understand coyote's lethal killing game, Our neighborhood is no longer the same. They are disgusting animals, for sure. They have been known to attack humans. They seem to be taking care of our town's feral cat population, which had truly gotten out of hand. But, I don't like aggressive scavengers.

Yup. A few coyotes have been spotted in Chicago too, in the city proper. It seems wildlife haunts have been invaded by us humans. Now we pay the price. ~ Salt and Pepper Sprayer, gw

I love the wildlife, but alas, we have encroached upon their habitat until there isn't much they can do. I'm straddlin' the fence here. I like the animals in my backyard, but get mad as hell when they eat my flower bulbs!

I have a friend who rescued his little dog from a pack of Coyotes. He ended up featured in the Newspaper. His dog Maggie was old but still lived 3 more years after the attack.

Wow! I'd say that's a rare situation. He must have been in extreme danger while rescuing Maggie. Thanks for sharing.

We have the same problem with coyotes and foxes in RI. Neighborhood cats, disappear quickly. Housing developments now attract deer and opossum. I've yet to see a black bear though. Good luck in the contest. Many thanks for reading my work. / Maurice

Here in New Jersey, we have had occasional reports of black bear sightings. That makes some of my neighbors a bit cautious. Good write.

I'd say, but even black bears are not as ruthless and cunning as coyotes. Thanks for stopping by.

Black bears are rare in RI, most are seen in the upper New England states, especially Maine. Never thought they'd be found in New Jersey. / Maurice

Thanks so much, Robert. We've taken over their habitat, and they're just trying to get it back. It's sad, really. Thanks for reading my work.
