Cowboys Wow

Late sixties cowboy films Bonanza, Rawhide And Cheyenne – I loved these series. Their theme songs come to mind ‘Wishing ‘My gal was by my side’( Rawhide,) Waiting at the end of my ride ‘Keep movin,’ movin’, movin, Just rope em, throw and brand em Soon we’ll be living high and wide Rawhide’. And then there was Cheyenne , ‘Cheyenne, Cheyenne, where will You be campin’ tonight, Lonely man, Cheyenne, will Your heart stay free and light, The wind that blows, that comes and goes, Has been your only home, But will the wind one day cease, And you’ll no longer roam.’ And finally my absolute favorite Bonanza (Little Joe) we were all in love With him, it was all we discussed at School break time the next day If only it was on every night What can I say, The song was almost on The hit parade. In my mind, it will never fade! Remember their home the Ponderosa Ranch, ‘the stars at night The morning light Water in the branch, We ride along, Four men strong ‘ These three cowboy series bring back Memories galore of my mid to late teenage Years, happy moments, and sad seems Like only a page Ago. I have just missed Line Gauthier’s contest, But still posting this poem. Some words and lyrics From all three series.

Yes we have the Vaccine. My son is becoming a DR. and is at the hospital a lot. Thankfully he just got his first dose. My wife runs an eating disorder program for the Mental Health Centre, so she will be getting her’s shortly. Myself it probably won’t be available until September. Thanks for all your visits and comments. I also appreciate that you share my poetry with your husband.

Hoss was like a cuddly teddy bear, but someone told me if I am not mistaken that Little Joe died young, yes the girls were crazy about him. Thank you for a lovely comment, Jennifer.

We were all quite crazy about them, and I thinkk mostly females we had these films in Zambia because TV came out much before it did in South Africa. When we moved here in 1970 there was no TV. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

Oh yes, Bonanza was my absolute favorite too. So you watch all those in your country?? I actually liked Adam the best but of couse Little Joe was the cutie . Years later was a doctor tv show about a bald doctor. it turned out to be "adam" from Bonanza and he sure did not look the same any more! Hoss' character died young. Yes, such good memories. This was our Sunday night tradition to eat lots of popcorn as we watched Bonanza!

Yes, we used to get burgers and chips, and it was either at my friend Jane's house or ours and then i or she used to sleep over - ours was on a Friday Night. Shame about Hoss, I understand the same happened to Little Joe. Hugs and blessings, great comment my friend Jennifer.

Very clever and creative my friend! Love the use of the lyrics to carry out the theme! So sorry this one didn't end up on the contest :( think it would have been a winner. Like you I grew up on these westerns - couldn't wait to watch them each week. Have been to the Ponderosa Ranch. We are about five hours from it. Blessings, hugs and best wishes - see you on the "soup" trail herding verses!

How I loved "Bonanza," Jennifer! I could hear the tune as I was reading your delightfully nostalgic poem. My sister has started watching old westerns again. I think their predictability gives her some assurance during the pandemic's uncertainty. Those cowboy heroes like Clint Eastwood seem to be long gone. Pity. Enjoyed your poem! Hugs, Carolyn
