Over 600 young men are currently in prison in South Korea as conscientious objectors, for refusing military service. There is no provision for alternative non military service. All leave with a criminal record which they will carry for years, which affect future job prospects and harms family life. Over 30,000 young men have been treated this way over the past 30 years. International law recognizes conscientious objection and South Korea is one of the few countries that claim there is freedom of worship and conscience, that still refuse to abide by international law.

Conscientious Objectors
Prisoner #1 says to Prisoner #2
"Let me get this straight I am here because I killed someone,
and you are here because you don't want to kill someone"?
Does that make sense?
