no soldier ever kissed
the soil they bled on
for its sake ...
no leader ever bled
for the young lives giv'n
to their charge ...
no mother ever wept
for a cause, torn straight
from her womb;
the oceans of the earth
could not catch the tears
lost to war.

This form is called a "Daryush", labelled after and inspired by Elizabeth Daryush, the English poet who lived from 1887-1977. It is a 6/5/3 syllabic triplet style series that encompasses a complete thought or sentence therein.
