Connie- Constanza

Connie, you were a singing lark Your lovely warbling is now stilled To a strange domain, you have slipped Here you were a reigning monarch Unrivalled in charm and splendour To many you were a mentor Can't accept the grim truth so stark Gone you’re in the wink of an eye We like to think it’s just a lie Leaving an indelible mark You have abruptly quit the scene Never to come back with your sheen You will shine as light in the dark We will not forget you dear friend The vacuum left, none can mend Connie you were a singing lark Here you were a reigning monarch Can't accept the grim truth so stark Leaving an indelible mark, You will shine as light in the dark ___________________________ Sept.19.2022

Valsa, I love your lines "Here you were a reigning monarch." It seems ironic that she died within a week of the Queen, as Connie was also a monarch of sorts, ever gracious, kind, benevolent, and unifying. "Unrivalled in charm and splendour", You honor her memory so well with your tribute, and I smile each time I read it. To compare her to a singing lark is such perfect imagery. Blessings ~ John

Thanks a lot dear John. I know she has been so dear to many here. While writing this, I had in mind Queen Elizabeth , the reigning monarch of Great Britain who died two weeks earlier to Connie's passing away. Connie too has been a monarch in her own way ! Thanks a lot for liking this humble tribute!

Michael, you were the first to write a tribute to Connie . I came to know of her death first from your poem. Indeed it was a moment of shock and disbelief! Thanks for your sweet comment.

So many poems I too have seen. That shows how popular she has been. Only after her going away I have seen this beautiful form of verse invented by her. Thank you dear Tom.
